The new Machinery Directive in which some aspects of the requirements have been changed has been in effect since 29 December 2009. This raises questions among many machine builders.

Risk assessment

The Machinery Directive makes the carrying out of a risk assessment compulsory also for unfinished machines.

A new harmonized norm came into effect in 2007. This norm provides a more detailed interpretation of the carrying out of risk assessments.
